Yesterday was just like Christmas

Firstly, I bought my dream boots yesterday. I had been eyeing them for such a long time.

My heart ached for them. Ster clearly saw my love for them and caved and let me get them.

Seriously, I was so smitten all day. They are a thing of beauty.

Secondly, we got all decked out and had some family pictures taken by Kelsy Pankhurst.

She is so adorable and she did a fantastic job.. Not to mention she has the cutest little girls ever.

We had so much fun and I cannot wait to see how they turned out. There is nothing better than a good ol' photoshoot. I love pictures SO much.

Third. WE BOUGHT A HOUSE!!!

We had been waiting for the past week or two to hear back if everything went through alright - and sure enough yesterday during our photoshoot we got the final word that everything was a GO! So, the story. We were planning on moving to Lethbridge in January and just renting a place. One day we heard about a great fixer-upper house in Taber that had just been put on the market. The owners wanted a quick sale so they listed it at a very low price. Sterling and I thought about it and figured, "well, what else are we going to do until the summer.. we may as well put an offer in." We have talked ever since we were married about getting a house and flipping it. Its just something we are both interested in. Annnyways. Our offer was accepted, and financing went through! We take possession on Dec. 15th and we are SO excited! It is on such a cute little street, close to the schools and church, and it has a HUGE backyard. We can't wait to get working on it.

A few weeks ago we decided to start Ruby on solids.

She is an awesome little eater. She is also the most ADHD eater I have ever seen.

Seriously - we almost need to strap her arms down.

Her favorite foods are: peas, sweet potatoes, banana, pear, rice cereal, and apple sauce.

She is getting so chunky and rolly! I love it so much!

Best part - scraggamuffin-messy-face rubbbby!

Our little miss decided one day that she was ready to get rolling.
On November 8th she surprised Sterling and I by effortlessly rolling over.
It was like she'd been secretly practicing at night while we were asleep.

One day Ruby and I were playing

and I stepped into the other room for about 30 seconds.

When I came back I looked down and didn't see my little bee.

After a moment of panic, I got down on my knees and right there -

UNDER the couch was my sweet little girl.

I could not stop laughing.

There is not a day that goes by the Ruby doesn't make us laugh.

We sure love our little girl.

St. George!

At the end of September we were lucky enough to go down to St. George for a week to visit Shaune and Court! It was such a fun trip and we jammed so many activities into those 7 days as humanly possible. Needless to say we enjoyed the break from the sunless 4 degree weather we were having back home to bask in the 35 degree sun. We had such a blast and we can't wait to get back!

Five months ago we were blessed with a gorgeous, sweet girl.

We've learned so much having her around, and we love every minute of it.

She is such a bright, happy, loving little girl.

It is amazing watching her grow and learn new things.

We truly feel privileged being her parents.

We feel so blessed to have one of our Heavenly Fathers most choice daughters.

Here are a few of our favorite things about her..

she has a HUGE smile

she's got the most adorable little dimples

her gorgeous blue eyes (she can thank her daddy for that one)

she is SO happy and has the cutest laugh

her sweet hair

she's very social and loves seeing everything thats going on

she loves talking - ALL DAY, EVERYDAY

she loves playing

she's a great traveller

she can put her lula (binkie) and bottle in her mouth by herself

she's a great sleeper and has slept through the night since month 2

she LOVES water - bath time, swimming - just anything to do with water

the way she plays with her tongue

she knows her mommy and daddy - and smiles when we walk in the room

she is a pro roller

she chews on everything - even the dog

she can drink out of a camelbak waterbottle, and a cup - we know, she's amazing.

she is a great neck snuggler

she loves kisses - beware: she will always try to slip you the tongue!

she is so observant and has to see everything thats going on

Breanne and Dean were sealed together for time and all eternity.

It was such a beautiful day - Breanne was gorgeous.
I couldn't have asked for a better brother-in-law. Dean is so great.

marked a very special day in the Wallace family.

Its the day that our sweet little Ruby was born.

Leading up to this day I had tried EVERYTHING to get this little baby to come. Jumping on the trampoline, walking like crazy, raspberry tea, spicy food, pineapple, herbs, and even the dreaded castor oil (which had zero effect on me).

The result: Nothing. Not even a single contraction.

I was getting so frustrated knowing that Sterling only had a limited amount of time to be home - and I wanted him to have SOME time with the baby before he went back to New Brunswick for work.

So, as I went to bed the night of the 10th I started feeling a little bit crampy. I tried to just ignore it and sleep but by 12:30 that night I was having full out contractions about 7 minutes apart.

Before this I would always ask moms what contractions felt like, or if I would know when I started having them and all they would say is "oh, you will know." Trust me, you DEFINITELY know when they start. By about 2:00 am my contractions were 5 minutes apart and getting stronger.

Sterling was so great and helped me to breathe through them. He called the hospital and they had us come in so they could check me. I was about 2 cm dilated. After about an hour there they sent me home until the clinic opened in the morning.

It was the worst 4 hour wait of my life. When it finally opened we went in and I had progressed to 4 cm. My doctor decided that he would break my water so we headed over to the hospital. After he broke my water it seemed like everything was in slow motion. I was going out of my mind with the pain from contractions and I was progressing really slowly.

Thank goodness I have such a patient and loving husband! I was so grumpy at him all day - and the last thing I wanted was for him to touch me or talk to me. (Sorry Ster!)

Fast forward to around 10pm and things finally got going. I was FINALLY fully dilated and I was feeling the need to push. After having contractions ALL day I was super tired and I didn't know if I could do it. (Apparently I was saying some pretty funny things.)

After 22 long hours and a lot of encouragement and intense pushing I felt a little tiny baby being placed on my stomach. It was the best feeling in the whole entire world. I just looked at Ster and we started bawling! I couldn't believe that she was finally here and that I survived giving birth.

in at 5 lbs 11oz and was 19 inches long.

She was right on her due date and has the cutest little face and features

and TONS of dark hair.

We just absolutely adore her and we are so grateful that families are forever.

This past Monday I had my 37 week appointment. (Yikes 37 weeks already! Has it really gone that fast?!) Everything was going great until I heard the words...

"hmm.. those are little feet"

Great! Breech baby here we come! Thankfully I have an amazing doctor and he got me in the next day for an ultrasound and an appointment with an OB in Lethbridge. After waiting around most of the morning they confirmed she definitely was in the breech position. So the OB felt around and decided to try to turn her. Let me just tell you that it was by far one of the most painful experiences of my life to date. Picture a 200 pound man with huge biceps putting all of his weight into the heel of his hand trying to rearrange your insides. Now picture that for 5 minutes straight. He was working hard enough to break a sweat. Thankfully he finally got her turned.

The best part of this story is that I think the next day she turned back. I guess we will see at our next appointment. Cross your fingers she stayed! I definitely do not want to do that again.

May 1st marked our 1 Year Anniversary.

I can hardly believe how quickly it went by.

where it all started:

Sterling and I were staying in Medicine Hat for the weekend and for fun we bought a pregnancy test (yeah, we are kinda weird like that). Not thinking that I could really be pregnant I took the test and to my surprise it turned out POSITIVE. I was SO excited and shocked at the same time I just started crying (may or may not have had something to do with hormones..) When I showed Sterling the test he gave me a hug and tried to comfort me - thinking I was crying because it was negative. To his shock, it wasn't.

On November 23, we were finally able to get in to a doctor and hear our little babies heartbeat. It was a good, strong, fast heartbeat. It was such a relief to finally hear that everything sounded healthy.

We had our ultrasound a couple of months later when we got back from Hawaii. It was amazing - minus the fact that they seriously make you drink enough water to fill up an elephant.. then they push down right on your bladder. We had an awesome ultrasound technician. He was hilarious and showed us everything. He said that our baby was very cute and funny and kept doing flips and squirming all over the place (that's our baby!). Unfortunately our baby was also camera shy and we didn't get many good pictures to post.

A few days later we found out that we were going to be having a

GIRL!

We were so shocked because we thought for sure it was going to be a boy. So much for motherly intuition. I don't know who was more excited - Sterling or I?

I'm now at 34 weeks (yikes!). Its a pretty surreal feeling that I'm even pregnant right now - let alone I am going to be having a baby in just under 6 weeks! I have had a wonderful pregnancy so far and I feel great.

We are so excited to meet our little miss!

Christmas In Hawaii.

Julie and I were fortunate enough to be in Hawaii for christmas. When we left Canada on Dec. 7th the weather was -30 degrees.

Upon our arrival in Hawaii, the weather was about 25-27 degrees for the entire three weeks we were there.

Here are some of my observations while being in Hawaii:

-There are a lot of asians, and a lot of asian restaurants.

-There are people who devote their entire existence to Suntanning.

- Wall-mart sells surf-boards.

- Big waves are actually powerful!

-It is socially acceptable to shop in the mall in a speedo, regardless of how nasty you look in it.

-Guava isn't that good.

-Pina colada doesn't taste extra good in Hawaii.

-Pineapple does taste extra good in Hawaii.

-Even though you are 1000's of miles from home, there are still annoying people from Jerusalem trying to sell exfoliating scrub from the dead sea.

It was nice to see Abi and Julien, they are so cute... and grown up!

C H R I S T M A S.

one word that can make anyone smile -

except if you are a scrooge.

Christmas has started early this year at the little Wallace house. I sneakily started playing christmas music in September to try to get Sterling prepped for my outrageous love of it. He's been a good sport. He lets me blast Celine Dion, Harry Conick Jr., Bing Crosby, and Andy Williams... you name it - I listen to it. He will even dance along with me.. He's made up some pretty intense moves.

Part of the reason Christmas has come so early for us this year is because we won't actually be here when it comes. We will be soaking up the sun, seeing our family, and visiting great friends in

HAWAII.

Yes, Hawaii.

We are very excited - but we still want to get as much cold christmas in as we can. Somehow I can't imagine it will feel much like Christmas over there.. who knows!

3 months in 12 bullets

So the summer is now over, and so is APX. It is so nice to be with my wife again! Although it was a good experience I don't think I will do it again.
After a short break at The Lake, we moved in with the parents. Don't judge us, it was strictly a financial decision, plus they have a hot tub and Julie's mom is a wonderful cook.
Instead of pursuing a career in Psychology, I have decided to go into Real Estate. I've started my classes already and should be certified to sell houses by summer of 2010.
I put on my painting clothes a few weeks ago to paint Diane's room for her birthday. We did it as a surprise, and it turned out better than I thought it would.
Pip is now 9 month old, and he is all growed up. He is potty trained and his favorite activities are: chewing plastic bottles, Eating, sleeping, and chewing my ears when I am lying on the floor. Pip has a unique talent of snoring as loud as a 60 year old man.
Sadly Both of our cars died right before the summer, so we have been without wheels for a while. We bought a new car from the VW dealership in Lethbridge. Its a little silver Golf named Gustav. No it doesn't have much for horsepower, but it is economical and saves us quite a bit on fuel costs - and he just celebrated his 200 000 km birthday and he's still going strong!
I have contracted the H1N1 flu virus, just kidding.
We are chasing down our half year anniversary. I'm so glad to be married to Julie, She always brightens my day!
After many years of being a blondie, Julie decided to change things up a bit and go dark. I like the change, What a Hottie! (I'm aloud to say that I'm her husband)
Julie and I Found a suite to rent. We were looking for a place for about 2 months with little success. Many of the places we were interested in would not allow Pip to live in the house. After much searching we found a place that fit both our budget and our dog loving lifestyle. We move in at the end of the month, can't wait.
After securing a place to live, we now needed something to sleep on. We found the perfect mattress, which in Julie terms means the softest mattress in existence.

I was so lucky to be able to go home for a couple weeks the start of this month to go to one of my best friend, Nathan's, wedding. He met a fabulous and sweet girl, Katie, who I adore, in Hawaii and they fell in love. They asked me to do the photography for their wedding, and of course I was honored and jumped on the opportunity. It was beautiful, everything about the wedding was just charming. okay, okay, okay.

a MAJOR blogging update is in order!

WE'RE MARRIED!!

On May 1st, 2009 Sterling and I were sealed for time and all eternity

in the Cardston Alberta temple. It was the most beautiful day of our lives.

The spirit was so strong and we will always cherish the experience.

After the temple the celebration began! The family dinner

and reception were awesome.

Seriously, awesome.

There is only one word to sum up the experience; Perfect.

The next day we started our journey up to Banff for our honeymoon.

On our way up we stopped in Calgary. The morning we were about to leave

the unthinkable happened - Sterling had another seizure.

It was the scariest thing in the world to actually witness. Frantically

I called 911 and after about ten minutes there were paramedics

loading my husband into an ambulance. I couldn't help but to cry - it was horrifying.

When we arrived at the hospital Ster started coming to. We waited there while doctors

did tests to check Sterling's 160-180 heart rate. Luckily Ken & Audrey, and my mom came

and met us at the hospital. Thank goodness for loving and supportive parents! They finally let us go, and thankfully the doctors in Calgary took it seriously and actually set up some follow up tests for Sterling.

We never expected to be in the ER with our parents on our honeymoon...

After our Calgary experience we decided to try and salvage

what was still left of our honeymoon and go to Banff for a few days.

We stayed at the Chateau Lake Louise.

It was beautiful! We had a gorgeous view of the lake from our room.

While we were there we toured around Banff,

(making sure to stop at pretty much every chocolate shop)

snuck into the pools at the Banff Springs,

ordered delicious (and expensive) room service, and just relaxed!

After a couple of days there we got bored so we decided to just head back to southern Alberta and hang out with our family until some of Sterling's tests were done and we had to move. We couldn't have planned it better. We were able to go to Nixon's 3rd birthday party (my awesome full-of-energy nephew), and watch all the Wallace brothers (minus Ster and Shaune, add Courtney :)) do an adventure race. After all was said and done the whole Wallace clan headed to Lethbridge to attend the 35th annual Lobster Feed! Ric and Trish and uncle Murray put it on every year and it is one of the coolest traditions ever! I mean, what could be better than having the family all together and eating the most succulent lobster (drenched in butter) followed by delicious desserts. Mmmm!

After a couple of Sterling's medical tests we began our treacherous journey wayyyy up north. We stopped half way in Edmonton and stayed overnight at the Fantasyland Hotel - Polynesian Style! It was seriously SO COOL! There was a waterfall jacuzzi, a wicked bed, and even a Volcano! We got free tickets to go to the water park so we definitely took advantage! It was so much fun. We were honestly like little kids running to as many different water slides as we possibly could. It was awesome!

Sadly the next morning came and we had to leave :( and continue our journey to Fort McMurray. After a lot of wrong turns we finally made it! It is definitely one different city. The only way we can describe it to people is to compare it to the North Side of Lethbridge. Ghetto, slightly trashy, but everyone and we mean EVERYONE is filthy rich. For the most part everyone here works in a blue collar job. Its just SO different. We came up here to work for APX alarms for the summer. Before we got here we had both planned on selling, but once we got to the city we both had a really strong impression that I shouldn't be going door to door here to sell. So, I sit at home - I'm trying to set up some distance learning courses I can do while Sterling is out working. He is doing such a good job already. He works so hard at it and I'm so proud of him!

This is our life so far! We are making the best of everything and we make sure we laugh together every day. We are so grateful for all of the love and support and prayers on our behalf. We're especially grateful for our family! We love all of you guys so much and can't wait to see you all at the end of summer!

I pretty much had the scariest day of my life today.

I got a frantic phone call from an LDS girl at the university saying that Sterling had just had a 9 MINUTE seizure!!! My heart literally stopped beating. I frantically talked with the paramedics on the phone and rushed to the hospital to meet them there so they could do tests to determine why it happened. As they wheeled him in on the stretcher I couldn't help but cry as he had oxygen tubes up his nose and his skin was grey. I patiently waited - along with Sterling's little cheering section in the waiting room until they FINALLY let me go see him. He was a little out of it, and he kept saying to the nurse, "look how cute she is" :)

Luckily the tests went well, Sterling was feeling better, and they scheduled him to see a neurologist and get an EEG, so we were able to leave the hospital a few hours later.

SO SCARY.

Today I am just grateful for the little angels in life that follow us around and watch over us.

Especially the ones that were following Sterling.

volleyball up my shirt and he caught me doing it.

I kept going to volleyball, but not to play.

next I started baking cookies at his house because

conveniently I didn't have an oven :)

then came preference.

the rest is pretty much history.

we've been inseparable ever since

After Christmas this year we took a trip down to Utah to visit my brothers and sister-in laws, and niece and nephew. It was sooo great to see them! I've missed them so much. And the babies are HUGE now. After our visit in Utah, Sterling and I drove up to his cabin at Ashley Lake in Montana. It was GORGEOUS. We had so much fun with his parents and a couple of his brothers.. Here are some photos...

well, lastnight was preference and it was SO MUCH FUN.

the night started off with me blindfolding Sterling (muahaha) and taking him to our secret date destination... THE CURLING RINK. When we got there we "just so happened" to run into 2 of his good friends and their dates for preference... The curling commenced and us girls kicked the guys trash.. or at least thats what we like to think. After an intense curl we all packed up and went to our second secret date location.. Indian Battle Park. When we got there, there was magically a hot, home cooked delicious feast complete with martinelli's and cheesecake pops in the trunk of my car.. (thanks mom :)) so we hiked up to the gazebo and ate the delicious meal via candle light. It turned out so good! Afterwards we came home to get "hot and ready" as Sterling likes to call it.. then we were off to the dance. It was so much fun. I had the best date.

so yesterday was a good day.

it started with a nice run and an intense game of soccer,

followed by christmas music listening and going to the temple.

I LOVE THE TEMPLE.

after the temple we went and ate chinese.. gag.

sterling and i had an eating competition - BAD IDEA. we tied, but i felt sooooooooooo so so so gross afterwards. i could've stopped after my first plate - but me being the stubborn girl i am couldn't let him beat me. so we tied.

when we got home we decided to have a random night.. so we:

climbed up to the train bridge - HAH take that cops!

we are pretty much rebels without a cause.. the train bridge was followed by starbucks - mmm.. caramel apple cider.. after that sterling threw me in the trunk of his car (literally...(but i thought it would be fun)) and we went to the japanese gardens and he taught me how to longboard. i was super nervous just because i have ZERO and i mean ZERO coordination... but it ended up being super fun. i'm going to try to do it more often.. then we tried to break into japanese gardens - sterling jumped the fence but i wasn't tall enough to do it! so then we just sat around and asked each other super random questions.

it was sooo much fun!

well i have been reminded as of late that i am a lazy blogger, sorry to disappoint you all.

my life has been really funny lately. where do i start..

REJECTION.

Well, its true. I'm not going to BYU Hawaii come winter. Dang transcripts.

but that doesn't mean that i won't go to hawaii, mark my words,

i WILL..

SWEET SWEET FREEDOM..

as a few of you may know, i have been taking a few classes at the college, one of which is chemistry. gah. well, heres the thing.. i've never taken chemistry in my whole life, unless you count science 10 where we spent like 3 days all pretending that we knew what chemistry was. well, when i applied to the college this fall i talked to an academic counselor to help me figure out which classes i needed to take. the way it works at the college is there are 3 levels of basic chemistry you can take. you start with chem 75, then chem 85, then 95. now at one point my advisor looked up at me and said.. "uhh, you look smart enough to skip chem 75" then scribbled something on the page. ha, now it was kind of flattering that he thought i looked smart enough to skip a class, but this also means i am a year behind everyone in my class. barf. i seriously tried hard to catch up and understand everything, but it was just too much. i knew after our first exam that i needed to drop the class - after all, my answer for what is the definition of chemistry went a little something like this.. "the study of chemicals in the world around us" hahaha.. oh how embarrassing. i'm sure my teacher got a good laugh out of it.

So needless to say i dropped the class! i had a mini party with myself that day and celebrated by getting a little tub of ice cream and ate it at the exact time i would have been in class.

i really stuck it to the man! haha.

UPDATE:

For those of you who may be wondering, I finally did get my paper done. Mind you it wasn't until the next day at around 10 pm. But thank goodness! It was such a relief to just get that dang thing over with.

PREFERENCE....

Well, for those of you who dont know... preference is a dance where girls get to ask the guys out. the lethbridge ysa dance is coming up in just under a month and so it got me thinking i needed to ask someone! As of lately i've been hanging out with a really really realllllly cool guy who will remain unnamed ;)

since he is pretty much the cats meow i figured he'd probably get asked really quick so i decided to jump on it and ask him.. let me describe him a little bit. he and i both LOVE the office so we watch it every week.. also, ssshhhh, keep this on the DL - but he secretly loves the Jonas Brothers.. hahaha. Dont worry.. i make fun of him a lot for it. So, in deciding how to ask him I took a trip to walmart to see if i could find anything cool to use to ask him.

this is what i found:

So, for any of you that watch the office it should be no problem for you to figure out what i did. yes. i wrapped the doll holding an invitation in saran wrap and suspended the it in jello.

im giving him until 6:14 PM tonight (another office inside joke) to give me a reply. Hopefully it will be a YES. haha.

basically that is my life as of late.

Okay, I seriously can't even believe how ADD I am right now.

I am attempting to write a paper for my Ethics class, that I've known about for about a month, (and is due tomorrow) and every time I go to work on it something will distract me!

In the space of 3 hours I've:

painted my nails (black sparkly)

made tea (decaf vanilla chai tea.. delicious! drink some)

facebooked

hunted down and killed 3 flies

plucked the petals off of 2 daisies

cleaned out the fridge (gross)

looked out the window for about 10 minutes

doodled

made shapes with a giant pipe cleaner

plucked my eyebrows

looked for new recipes

started alphabetizing our DVD collection

stretched

went outside to see how cold it was.. (wear a light jacket!)

watched the Wiggles on youtube (yes, I know!)

(I was curious about it cause Julien and Abi watch it.. I figured it must be interesting.. I would recommend Fruit Salad, or Henry the Octopus.)

blogged..

and I've written an outline and a total of 2 solid sentences!

So ridiculous, especially since I alloted this whole day for me to finish my paper. Its pretty sad. At least I have another solid 9 hours to try. At this rate I might have a full paragraph by tomorrow..

This photo was taken at St. Thomas Mount in India about 3 years ago.

We had gone there for the day to play with orphan children, and to hear a special musical number the children there had put together for us. One of the nuns there pulled me aside and brought me over to this picture and without saying a thing just pointed at the words, nodded her head, took my hand, kissed it, then walked away. It was a very sobering experience, and i think its a great way to look at life. I will never forget it.

My mom and I ran the Terry Fox run today for Gordon and Ken (my grandpas). It was awesome. I actually ran it! There were a lot of supporters and it was such a beautiful morning for the run. Best of all it was for a great cause. I think one day I will shave my head for cancer. Its on my list for life now. I hope we all realize how lucky we are and live life to the fullest.

15. met a great new friend who shares a lot of my interests.

Well, I am officially back in school! Classes started yesterday, and yep.. I missed them! Haha, I'm already off to a good start! I have a feeling that this is going to be a crazy semester. With 21 credits and me attempting to still have a part time job (maybe 2), I think I will stay pretty busy. Im hoping that I'll be able to do it and still manage to have somewhat of a social life.

Yesterday we visited sweet old Alice.

She is one of the 2 best grandmas in the

world. Now the story with Alice is that she

lives in an old folks home, and she's losing

her mind, as sad as it is. She loves visiting

and telling stories about her life, although

the details change every time. She is such a

sweet and nurturing grandma and I have

learned so many things from her. I remember

learning to dance in the kitchen on her feet,

with her always singing this song (...), or

watching i love lucy while she would cut

my bangs waaay too short. I'm so grateful

for her. Just as I was about to leave yesterday

she caught a glimpse of my nails and said,

"Let me tell you, those fingernails you've got

are beautiful - but the men don't like them.

They think they are a menace"

It was the highlight of my day. I love Alice.

HONG KONG

i love fortune cookies.

On Saturday, in the olympic spirit my family and I went to

Hong Kong to get in on the Olympic action. Hong Kong is

this divey little chinese AND western restaurant on the out-

skirts of Taber. Its super gross, (trust me) but we just went

as a joke. It turned out to be one of the most memorable

dinners our family has ever had together. Between Breannes

oyster eating experience, the gagging, and the dry heaving, it

was fabulous. I don't think I have ever laughed SO hard in my

whole entire life. We were all in tears. My fortune also didn't

disappoint. It was:

"Participation in sports will lead to a lucrative career"

HA! Anybody who knows me, knows how comical that is. I got a

good kick out of it. So, if you are looking for a good time, swing

by Hong Kong in Taber. You will not be disappointed.
